Everybody likes to earn a little somethin'-somethin' on the side.

And with the power of the internet, it's easier than ever.

If you're wondering how to make $50 a day online, you've come to the right place.

$50 a day may not seem like much. But if you can do it day after day after day, it adds up to a decent chunk of change rattling around your pocket.

We're talking an extra $1,500 per month, to be exact (or $18,250 per year)!

I don't know about you, but I have plenty of ways I could put an extra $18k/year to use.

In this guide, you'll learn 20 of the best ways to make $50 a day online.

Some require a little work each day, while others are almost completely passive (after some upfront effort).

Either way, you're bound to find an idea on this list that'll help boost your bank account.

Let's get started.

Some of the ideas on this list won't require any new skills to make an extra fifty dollars a day.

That said, the money-making methods that are most lucrative (and often most fun) usually have some sort of learning curve.

The good news is, you can learn how to do just about anything online for free.

One of the best places to get started is Skillshare's huge bank of online courses. This link will get you a free trial, and you can take as many courses as you want during that trial.

Simply learn whatever you need to learn during your trial, cancel when you're finished, and viola! —you're ready to make 50 dollars a day online (or more).

Lastly, after building your skills, you may realize most of these strategies can also be done as travel jobs while exploring the world. If your goal is to become a digital nomad, do yourself a favor and open up a Wise account (formerly Transferwise)—it'll save you BIG bucks sending and receiving money internationally.

How to make $50 a day online in 2021 (20 Clever Ways)

Whether you're looking to build a long-term sustainable side hustle or you just want to learn how to get 50 dollars fast online, there's something on this list for you.

Let's get started.

#1.) Get paid to play video games

Yup, that's right. If you're a gamer, this has your name written all over it.

On platforms like Twitch and Facebook Gaming, you can stream yourself playing video games, attract followers, and once established, start earning money. Nowadays, you can even earn real money playing blockchain-based games like Axie Infinity and Defi Kingdoms.

But let's focus on Twitch for now.

There are several ways to earn $50 a day playing video games. Your total income will be made up of:

  • Ad revenue (~$3.50 per 1,000 views)
  • Subscribers ($4.99 – $24.99 per subscriber)
  • Donations (Bits, Cheers, and Patreon)
  • Sponsors
  • Affiliate marketing (which we'll cover shortly)
  • Selling your own products (e.g., guides, merch, etc.)
  • Youtube revenue (upload your videos to Youtube after streaming)

Between all these different income streams, it's not hard for an established gamer to make $50/day online.

For example, you could hit $50 with:

  • 210 "level 1" subscribers = $35/day
  • 3,000 views/day (at $3.50 RPM) = $10/day
  • Donations = $3/day
  • Youtube ads = $2/day
graphic showing all the different video game streaming income streams that add up to earn 50 a day online

And this doesn't even include affiliate income, sponsorships, or selling your own merch.

To put this into perspective, CNBC reports the average pro Twitch streamer can expect to make $3,000 to $5,000 per month working playing 40 hours a week. That's WAY more than $50 a day.

Now, in order to get to this level (and beyond), you'll have to have an enticing reason for WHY people should subscribe to you. That could be:

  • You're extremely talented
  • You're good at teaching and explaining techniques
  • You're funny, entertaining to watch, or attractive

So if you're a gamer with mad skills, personality, or good looks—say hello to your dream job.

#2.) Earn commissions as an affiliate marketer

Have you ever had a gym, chiropractor, hairstylist, or other service provider offer you an incentive if you introduce them to your friends?

Affiliate marketing is basically the digital version of this.

You promote a company using a special link. When someone clicks your link and purchases that company's product or service, you earn a commission.

For example, let's say you sign up for my awesome free travel lifestyle newsletter (which you should!). At the end of my newsletters, I always remind readers to buy travel insurance. I had a great personal experience with Safetying nomad insurance, so I signed up for their Ambassador program to get paid to promote it.

The cool part is, many digital nomads travel indefinitely and set their coverage to auto-renew. Each time that happens, I get a recurring monthly commission.

Let's say 50 of these long-term nomads sign up for basic coverage through my link. That means I'd earn an extra $200 every month (roughly), without having to do any work.

So, if you click the image below and sign up for travel insurance (which you definitely should if you are traveling!), I will earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Go on, give it a try! 😉.

safetwing banner that says travel medical insurance for digital nomads

There are tons of ways you could earn $50/day with affiliate marketing.

  • You could make a video comparing three types of popular vacuum cleaners, upload it to Youtube, and include affiliate links in the description.
  • You could create a tutorial on how to do a task (online or in real life) that includes affiliate links to necessary tools and equipment.
  • You could help people set up their website and use your affiliate link to buy their hosting plan.

It goes without saying that the bigger your network (or online audience), the easier it is to make good money with affiliate marketing.

Warning: One of the most popular courses to learn affiliate marketing is called Making Sense of Cents. It seems like everyone is recommending it. However—and talk about irony—this is simply because everyone recommending it is an affiliate for the course! This free guide written by my boy, Sean Ogle, will teach you everything you need to know to get started. And if that's not enough, you can access a bunch more specific affiliate marketing courses with a free trial of Skillshare. (That's also an affiliate link, by the way, but you can't argue with free!)

#3.) Create a high-traffic blog

Blogging opens up the opportunity for several extra income streams (similar to creating a gaming channel above).

graphic showing allt the blogging income streams

Any one of these income streams can bring in an extra $50 per day.

We've already seen how to do this with affiliate marketing, so let's look at earning with ads.

The amount you earn with ads depends on the season, the ad market, and the topics your blog covers.

The more an advertiser can earn from their ads, the more they are able to pay for them.

For example, ads on a personal finance blog (e.g., promoting a pricey financial product to a targeted audience) will pay way more than ads on a blog that is just full of inspirational quotes.

But for the sake of argument, let's say your blog earns $20 EMPV, or earnings per 1000 pageviews. (This is less than the EMPV on Project Untethered, by the way, so this is perfectly doable).

To earn $50/day solely from ads at this rate, you'd need around 2,500 pageviews per day, or 75,000 pageviews per month.

This type of traffic doesn't happen overnight, but it's with consistent work, it's possible. Check out these travel blogs that make money for some real-life examples.

The best training I've found that teaches how to do this is the Fat Stacks Bundle (or at the very least, his free mini-course ).

Most blogging courses focus on affiliate marketing, but Fat Stacks is all about traffic and ads. Check out my full Fat Stacks review for more info.

#4.) Set up websites for small businesses

You'd be shocked at how many small businesses still don't have websites (or have ancient, ugly sites that don't work on mobile).

If you charged $300 to set up a basic website—which only takes a few hours once you get the hang of it—you'd have to do five websites per month to make $1,500 (or 50 per day).

And it gets even better.

Each of your clients will need to buy a domain, a hosting plan, possibly an email marketing service, and maybe even some other paid plugins and software.

You can use your affiliate links for all of these.

For example, Siteground (the hosting company I use for Project Untethered) will pay you $50 – $100 for every person you sign up, depending on volume.

If you build six sites per month and sign each up for Siteground, you'll earn $75 per person, or an extra $450/month. That brings us to a total of $1950/month (or $65/day), and we haven't even gotten into other affiliate opportunities.

graphic showing how to make $50 a day setting up websites for small businesses by charging a setup fee plus earning affiliat commissions

The best part is, learning how to set up a basic site isn't even that hard. You could learn in less than a day using Skillshare, Udemy, or even Youtube. This teensy learning curve makes it one of the best jobs for new freelancers.

And once you get the hang of the basics, you can slowly start learning more advanced site-building skills that'll earn you even more.

The hard part isn't learning the skill, it's finding the clients. But once you get the hang of it, building basic websites is a great way to earn $300 fast online (or whatever you decide to charge).

#5.) Freelance your skills

Freelancing is one of the quickest ways to start earning consistent money online.

You can earn as a freelance writer, graphic designer, web developer, or really any skill that businesses need help with (but don't want to hire an actual employee for).

The most common is freelance writing.

You don't have to be Earnest Hemingway to become a successful freelance writer. If you know how to market yourself, you can make $50/day—and much more—with just average writing skills (Speaking from experience!).

The first step is learning how to find entry-level writing jobs.

From there, you can learn how to earn your first $1k freelancing with my free email course.

Finally, if you make it this far and realize you love writing, you may think, "Screw $50 a day—let's make this into a full-time income!"

To replace your income with freelance writing as fast as possible, you'll want to invest in some training.

Here are two courses that helped me reach this point. They each help you achieve two different end goals.

You can learn other freelancing skills on Skillshare (this link gets you an extra-long free trial).

This newsletter sends hand-picked freelancing opportunities straight to your inbox. And this remote jobs site is usually packed with vetted freelance and flexible remote positions.

#6.) Sell services on Fiverr

Fiverr is an online freelancing platform. And while you can earn from "normal" freelance gigs on Fiverr…

You can also earn money doing some pretty weird things.

For example, here are a few ways real people are making real money.

This guy makes funny memes for a living.

screenshot of fiverr profile that makes memes

This lady communicates telepathically with pets.

screenshot of fiverr profile that telepathically communicates with pets

And this guy has been paid at least 35 times to do Kermit the Frog impressions

screenshot of fiverr profile that does kermit the frog impressions

My friends, if these guys can make money online, you should have no problem finding a legit service that will earn 50 bucks per day.

The trick will be landing those first clients and making sure they give you 5-star reviews. (Perhaps you could convince some of your friends to do it *wink* *wink*).

#6.) Start a drop servicing business

Drop servicing (AKA digital arbitrage) can be seen as a potential "next step" for freelancers.

You basically act as the middleman and match people who need a digital service to a service provider.

graphic showing how the drop servicing business model works

For example, let's say you create a website where you sell logo designs for $75/each. Instead of taking the time to create each logo yourself, you outsource the work to cheaper freelancers and keep the profit.

So in this example, if you found someone on Fiverr to create the logo for $25, you would pocket $50. Do this once per day, and you've got $50/day.

Now, this is obviously an overly simplistic example, but you get the idea.

For a better idea of how this model works, check out my full guide on how to start a drop servicing business for beginners.

If you just want to toy around with this business idea, here are some cheap and free drop servicing courses to help you get started. But if you decide to go all-in, I highly recommend checking out this free drop servicing webinar. It's a bit over-hyped, but it's full of gold nuggets. In the webinar he promotes his full course, Drop Servicing Blueprint, which—if you follow his strategies and put in the work, makes it almost impossible to fail (check out my Drop Servicing Blueprint review if you're curious).

#7.) Teach English online

stick man showing how to teach English online to Mexican students

If you're a native English speaker, this is one of the easiest ways to start earning an extra 50 bones a day. Heck, even if you're not a native speaker, you might be able to swing it.

There are many different online apps and platforms that make it super simple.

Some of the most popular are:

  • Palfish (see our full Palfish review)
  • VIPKid (see our full VIPKID review)
  • QKids
  • Cambly
  • Open English
  • Preply

The list goes on and on. (Seriously, check out these Cambly alternatives).

Teaching requirements vary from company to company. The highest-paid jobs typically require a college degree and/or a TEFL certification. But some do not.

That said, even if a TEFL certificate isn't required, I recommend getting one anyway. Just because you know how to SPEAK English doesn't automatically mean you'll be good at TEACHING it.

A TEFL course will prepare you as a teacher and make your job more enjoyable.

Plus, TEFL courses can be cheap!

I wouldn't recommend the super cheap Groupon courses (that is, unless you just want a certificate without actually learning anything).

But this budget TEFL course does a decent job of teaching you the basics.

And if you decide to go all-in with teaching English, you can opt for a more comprehensive TEFL course (this is the one I personally took).

If teaching sounds like too much work for you, you can also simply get paid to chat with language learners.

#8.) Get paid to type

graphic that shows a keyboard plus hands equals money

If you have speedy typing fingers, you can put them to work as a transcriptionist to easily pocket $50/day.

It may seem simple, but odds are you won't be transcribing clean, straightforward audios—software can already do that pretty well automatically.

What software can't do is transcribe poorly recorded audio, audio with multiple people talking at the same time, or heavy accents (among other things).

That's where you come in.

As a transcriptionist, your pay rate is usually tied to your typing speed.

With some practice, you can earn $25 per hour as a native English speaker—and potentially even more if you specialize in areas like legal transcription (here's how to become a legal transcriptionist from home).

That means—after building up your skills—it'd only take 2 hours/day to reach your $50 milestone.

If this sounds up your alley, here's a free transcription mini-course that'll help you get up and running.

(For complete training, see my full Transcribe Anywhere review).

Ever heard of an internet scopist?

Neither did I until I started my research for this article.

Turns out, it's a super flexible online job you can do to make fifty dollars a day and beyond.

You basically are responsible for editing court reports.

Court reporters use a stenotype machine to quickly capture what is being said in court using a sort of code. This is then translated into English—often littered with spelling and grammar mistakes.

That's where an internet scopist comes in to save the day.

Scopists need to love language and have extreme attention to detail—perhaps even have a Type-A OCD personality.

Court reports can determine the fate of someone's life, so they need to be as accurate as humanly possible.

If the idea of getting paid to match transcripts with audio clips sounds appealing to you, check out this free training .

#10.) Get paid to correct bad grammar

an edited sentence

If you have an eye for grammar errors, becoming a freelance proofreader can be an easy way to make some extra cash each day.

Now, there is an important distinction to make here between a proofreader and a copy editor.

A copy editor critiques written content to make sure everything flows well, is factually accurate, and follows a logical structure.

A proofreader simply ensures there are no grammar errors—basically like a "human spell checker".

Proofreading is obviously the easier of the two to start, yet it pays surprisingly well. In fact, ZipRecruiter reports the average freelance proofreader earns $25/hour.

With two hours per day, you got your 50 bucks.

That said, proofreading isn't for everyone. This free workshop will help you determine it's a good fit for you (plus give you tips for finding your first clients).

#11.) Sell physical products online

Starting your own eCommerce store and selling products online seems to be all the rage lately.

  • You can sell on Amazon.
  • You can do it through social media.
  • You can use a designated shopping platform like Shopify.
  • Or if you're savvy enough, you can go gung-ho and create your own custom website.

To make money this way, you must take into account the cost of fulfillment, shipping, storage (unless dropshipping), advertising, and any other applicable fees.

Your profit margin = Sales price – Purchase Price – Other costs

With this in mind, you can reach $50/day by…

  • Low sales volume, higher profit margin ($50 margin x 1 sale/day)
  • Medium volume, medium margin ($10 margin x 5 sales/day)
  • High volume, low margin ($1 margin x 50 sales/day)

This may seem like a lot of sales, but keep in mind—when you sell online, you have BILLIONS of potential customers. And many products need to be purchased over and over again.

That said, be careful.

There are a lot of unscrupulous courses out there that will have you believe that you can get rich quick. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I fell for this trick when I first started online. It still stings.

If you're interested in this business model, check out this free masterclass on how to start an "under-the-radar" Amazon FBA business with essentially zero competition.

And if you're looking to dive in headfirst, check out my Marketplace Superheroes review, an epic Amazon training program.

#12.) Sell digital products online

By now you might be thinking, "Yeah, but I don't want to have to actually work every day. I wanna learn how to make 50 dollars a day of PASSIVE income. How do I do that??"

Selling digital products might be your answer.

Digital products (like online courses and eBooks) require front-loaded effort to create. But once they're finished, they allow for "passive" income…theoretically.

graphic of guy pushing a heavy rock up a hill representing the upfront work you need to do to create a passive income stream that'll make fifty dollars a day

This assumes you create something people actually want to buy.

Things are rarely ever completely passive though. If you want the world to know your product exists, you'll have to market it.

There will also almost always be other ongoing admin tasks involved as well.

That said, if done correctly, making $50 a day passively is certainly doable.

Unlike selling physical products, you don't have to worry about shipping, fulfillment, storage, or product costs.

Almost 100% of each sale goes in your pocket (apart from any marketing costs or software used).

If you go big and create a $500 flagship course, you'd only have to make 3 sales per month to average $50/day.

Or maybe a simpler, $50 online course is more your style. You'd need 1 sale/day.

Or maybe you're more comfortable starting with a basic, $5 eBook. In that case, 10 buyers/day would be your target goal.

Whichever you choose, make sure you have a market of hungry buyers before pouring your blood, sweat, and tears into creating a digital product.

The last thing you'd want is to sink hundreds of hours into a project, just to hear crickets.

#13.) Work as a virtual assistant

A virtual assistant (VA) helps bloggers, online business owners, and other busy people with their time-consuming digital tasks.

This might mean managing their email inbox, doing research, managing social media, sending outreach messages, preparing documents, managing other VAs, or anything else that your client needs to offload from their plate. (Here are 275+ services virtual assistants can offer).

If you know how to use email, create documents, and other basic computer skills—you can earn as a VA.

That said, the more specialized skills you can offer, the more you can charge. Highly skilled VAs can demand $20-$40/hour based on their experience and value they offer.

VA jobs come in all shapes and sizes, too.

If you're looking for something flexible you can do in your spare time to earn your daily 50, there's plenty of people looking for part-time VAs.

Or if you want to make this into your full-time career, you can do that too!

This free VA webinar teaches you exactly how to start getting paid as a virtual assistant. And these VA training programs will hold your hand as you scale to surprisingly high incomes.

Lastly, if becoming a virtual assistant sounds like too much work, you could also get paid to be a virtual friend. (Seriously! You can literally get paid to chat online with lonely people.)

If you're a social media addict, mind as well get paid for it!

There are a couple ways you can do this.

The first is managing, engaging with, and growing social media accounts for different companies. This job is often referred to as a social media manager.

Most business-owners wear many hats, and time-sucking social media is often the first thing they outsource.

GIF of business owner wearing many hats and throwing the social media hat to a freelancer

The second, more lucrative way to earn from social media is to master paid ads. If you know how to use ads to drive new customers to a business, you can make good money—far more than $50/day.

The question is:

How do you get these types of jobs?

Well, unless you've got "connections" in your network who can hook you up, you'll need to prove yourself.

The easiest way to do that is to grow your own thriving social media channels. This shows business owners you know how to get results.

Speaking of growing your own social accounts, that brings me to another, slightly controversial, way of earning $50 a day (and potentially much more).

And that is learning to sell foot pics online. Yes, it seems a bit weird. But depending on who you sell to, it doesn't have to be.

And seeing as though one foot pic can fetch between $5 and $100+, you could hit $50/day by snapping a few pics and selling them.

I mean, when you think about it, it's really just a form of freelance modeling, right?

#15.) Fill out surveys

Businesses pay research companies big bucks to do product research and get customer feedback. This feedback helps them make important (and expensive) business decisions.

Two of the most popular companies that pay you to take surveys are SwagBucks and SurveyJunkie.

That said, I saved this one for last because—despite it being super quick and easy to start—you'd have to spend A LOT time filling out surveys to make $50/day.

You're looking at around $2-5/hour depending on the demographic, so you'd literally need to be doing surveys all day to reach your goal.

IMO, you're better off spending this time learning a new, higher income skill.

That said, if you just want something easy to earn a few extra bucks while you're waiting in line at the grocery store or sitting on the pot after bean burrito night—by all means, go for it!

[Bonus] How to make 50 dollars FAST offline

Everything we've covered so far can be done online from the comfort of your home (or anywhere in the world, really).

That said, most of them take a while to get started. If you want to learn how to make 50 dollars fast—as in, TODAY—here are some quick offline ideas to get you there.

Help your neighbors. Go door to door and ask your neighbors (or call your friends and family) if they have any chores around the house they need help with. If you mow a couple lawns, powerwash a driveway, walk a few dogs, or even transport someone's garbage to the dump—you'll earn $50 in as little as a few hours.

Sell your stuff. If you've got stuff lying around your house that you no longer use, why not turn it into some fast cash? Sell your old furniture, cell phone, and other electronics on Craigslist, trade in your clothes at a second-hand store, or go all out and run a full-blown garage sale.

Donate your fluids. Go donate your plasma and earn a quick $20-30. You can do this a couple times per week. All you have to do is sit there and play on your phone for an hour while donating. Heck, you could even earn money on your phone while donating! And if really need cash (and it doesn't creep you out), you can donate other, more "private" fluids for much more.

Become a reseller. Find something cool on clearance at Walmart? A bargain on Craigslist? If you know something is underpriced, snatch it up and resell it for a profit (either online or in-person). Some people make full-time incomes this way and have broken it down into a science.

Master the art of credit card churning. Open a rewards credit card with a juicy sign-up bonus, meet the minimum spending requirements, and watch as a load of rewards points (often redeemable for cash) plop into your account. This is especially useful when you're about to make a big purchase anyway. Whatever you do, just make sure you always pay off your full credit card balance every month.

The key to successfully make 50 dollars a day online

The best ways to make 50 dollars a day online all require time.

Time to learn new skills.

Time to find clients.

And time to grow.

This is what turns most people off.

We want immediate results.

And while immediate results aren't realistic, there is a way to speed up the process:

Invest in yourself.

Don't be afraid to invest in yourself. Yes, there are many free resources online. But it can be overwhelming figuring out who you can trust (and who is full of poo), how to puzzle-piece together tidbits of advice, and if that advice is even still relevant.

a bunch of scattered puzzle pieces

Would you pay $500 to shave one month off your learning curve?

I would.

Especially if it leads to $50 per day of extra income.

So, choose the job that piques your interest the most, and look for a way to cut down your learning curve.

I recommended several courses throughout the article, but don't be afraid to branch out and do your own research.

In the end, boosting your income isn't hard, per se—it just takes commitment.

Now go get that green!

(And once you hit $50 a day, here's how to make $3k a month and double your income.)

Frequently asked questions

Can you make $50 a day as a teenager?

Teenagers can make $50 a day in various ways by squeezing work in around school and other activities. If you live in a state with a high minimum wage, you could earn $50 by working less than four hours. If not, it'll likely be easier as a freelancer.

How to make 50 a day as a kid?

Kids have fewer options for making $50 a day, but it's still possible. Heck, a nine-year-old Youtuber earned $30 million in 2020. To earn $50 a day as a kid, you'll likely need to start your own business selling a service or a product.

$50 a day is how much per hour?

If working full eight-hour days, you'd need to earn $6.25 per hour to hit $50 a day. This is less than the federal minimum wage of $7.25. To make $50 a day working a four-hour shift, you'd need $12.50 per hour. These figures do not account for taxes.

How to make $50 right now?

The easiest way to make $50 dollars right now is to sell some of your belongings on Facebook Marketplace or Craiglist. For fastest results, price your items lower than other sellers. If you currently have a job, you could work a few extra hours.

How do you make 50 dollars a week?

To make $50 a week, you'd need to earn $7.14 per day. This could be as simple as cutting that expensive latte out of your morning routine or cooking lunch instead of eating out. You could also work a few extra hours at your day job or side hustle.
